Uber Freight’s Powerloop dedicated tours unlock more ways to earn, haul, and grow business

For carriers, and owner-operators in particular, steady earnings depend on consistent, high-quality freight. But securing both while maintaining flexibility can be a challenge. In soft markets, fluctuating load availability and unpredictable rates risk instability. Improved load availability and more appealing rates typically accompany tighter markets, but carriers share that they want more consistency—not just in repeat business with shippers they love to haul for and lanes they love to haul on—but also in building lasting relationships with shippers that could help them grow faster in the long-run.

That’s why we’re continuing to invest in new capabilities to enhance efficiency and increase earning potential for carriers. Today, Uber Freight is expanding our Powerloop drop-and-hook program to offer dedicated tours, providing even more carriers with access to reliable freight while staying in control. Unlike traditional dedicated lane programs, this expansion brings carriers consistent freight opportunities from some of the world’s largest shippers, while Uber Freight optimizes each tour to help carriers continue earning.

How it works

Powerloop dedicated tours are designed to help optimize miles, earnings, and efficiency while providing carriers with the freedom and predictability they need to operate successfully. By committing to move freight for a major shipper, carriers gain access to steady loads, reliable schedules, and the opportunity to earn more.

Unlike traditional dedicated lanes that tie carriers to a fixed route, Uber Freight optimizes each tour to ensure every mile is maximized. Rather than a simple headhaul and backhaul structure, the program strings multiple loads together, reducing empty miles and increasing earning potential. It also suggests return loads that match a carrier’s route. This makes it easier to get backhaul freight, which is one of the biggest problems in dedicated programs.

Carriers in the program move preloaded trailers through Powerloop, Uber Freight’s drop-and-hook program. Powerloop combines the reliability of an extensive trailer fleet with the flexibility of one of the largest shipper-carrier ecosystems, allowing carriers to book power-only loads across Uber Freight’s network.

For carriers, this means faster pickups, less downtime between loads, and more time earning on the road. With just their truck, carriers can take advantage of efficient, pre-planned tours while Uber Freight’s Powerloop team manages logistics.

A pay structure that rewards miles

Uber Freight’s Powerloop dedicated tours are designed to maximize carrier earnings by rewarding every mile driven. The more miles a carrier runs, the more they earn, ensuring those who cover longer distances see higher pay.

With optimized tour planning, Uber Freight helps carriers stay loaded and moving, reducing downtime and increasing earning potential while maintaining flexibility. Every mile counts, and this program is built to make the most of them.

More opportunities, more control

This program prioritizes consistency and flexibility. Instead of constantly searching for loads, carriers can focus on running efficiently and increasing their earnings. With a dedicated support team available 24/7, help is always on hand.

“Uber Freight’s Powerloop dedicated tours help give carriers more control over their business while ensuring they always have high-quality freight to move,” said Alyssa Correale, Vice President of Operations at Uber Freight. “By combining steady shipper commitments with optimized, high-utilization routes, we’re creating a new way for carriers to earn more, run more efficiently, and focus on what they do best—keeping goods moving.”

Demand for Powerloop dedicated tours continues to grow, with strong early interest from carriers and new lanes, shippers, and earning opportunities rolling out in the coming months. Currently, loads are available in the Midwest, Texas, Georgia, California and Pennsylvania, with more regions on the way. And soon, carriers in Powerloop dedicated tours will be able to design and choose their own, optimized tours directly in the Uber Freight App. This will help give them even more control over their time and their earnings.

Powerloop’s expansion is part of Uber Freight’s ongoing investment in high-efficiency, high-utilization capacity solutions. Last year, we introduced AI-powered bundling to build seamless drop-and-hook tours, deployed telematics-enhanced smart trailers for greater visibility, and scaled Powerloop nationwide—offering more carriers access to a flexible, high-utilization network. In 2024 alone, the program saw a 40% increase in load volume year over year.
